Many people are starting to feel that the saturation advertising of the world rugby cup is getting to the stage where it is turning people off thr event. Twenty references in an hour is a lot by any measure. The excessive amount of rugby that has been on also is tending to be more than some people can take. Predictions of 90,000 visitors each spending 150 dollars a day sound like the economy could benifit but little has been said about the cost of setting up and running the event. Ticket sales still seem to be below estimates and only time will tell how the figures will telly up.
Australia defeats New Zealand
Australia haswon the tri nations cup much to every ones suprise. Lots of people felt it would go the other way. There have beeen suggestions that this is a ploy to get more Australians to come to the cup.
Never to Meet
It seems strange that in large families split between New Zealand and Australia that we may never get to meet some of our relatives. I guess it is something to do with the pace of life and the relative values we have and the way society tends to impose its self on us. How often do you hear we should get together more often.
Cold Weather Gone
Well it looks like the Polar Blast has gone it was clear skies and warmer weather today. It was almost like another world still not hot but not the bitter intense cold we had experienced. There was every indication that it will be like that for a while and perhaps improving in the days to come.
Snow In Tuakau
Snow flakes fell in Tuakau today for the first time in memory. They were limited and soon melted but did have the right configuration. The children at school were thrilled and they all saw snow for the first time. The temperature was such that the snow melted quickly but it was still a one in a life time experience.
Cold Snap
Snow ice and cold conditions are forcast as a cold front moves in from the south. Snow is already falling in the south and is expected to move up the country over the next 24 hours. It is cold in the north with skittery showers.
Weather
It seems like the run of good weather we have had is about to end. The forecast looks like rain and rough weather a head. I guess we can not be disappointed as we have had a good run. The rain will help in some sections but of course there will be a down side for some parts of the community.
What of the future?
With an election pending and the economic situation in a state of flux it is hard plan for the future. We need to do some serious thinking and planning for the future. It is essential that all decisions made are considered and based on the best possible data available. It is certain that we won’t get it all right but we need to aim to get as much as possible right.
Whats Wrong?
Is the presure of advertising to blame for the current disorder in the Uk. Economic condition are such that some people will never br albe to purchase a HD TV. Advertising makes this group feel deprived dis satisfied and when the chance comes to plunder and loot and the consequences are not considered.
